Policy and Law

Laws and policies reflect the conventions, structures and institutions that define how human society works. They are a framework to regulate freedom, responsibility, obligation, authority, and accountability. This section analyses the nature of government; constitutional provisions on select human rights; international human rights treaties and obligations; State provisions for human rights monitoring and accountability; the relevance of national strategic frameworks for HIV/AIDS; and the criminalisation of sexual and gender minorities, sex work and reproductive choice.
